The year is 1920. New technologies have just allowed movies to be seen in both color and sound, prohibition ensued, jazz music can be heard on every street corner, and flivvers are cruising down every narrow road. The 20s were a time of innovation, technological advancement and progressive movements referred to as the Roaring Twenties.
As Western National Roundup turns 90 years old we take this time to look back into history. "A Swell Show" and a Roaring Roundup will take place January 6-10, 2010. The 2010 Western National Roundup will have themed dances and banquets straight from the 1920's so all of you sheiks and shebas bring your spiffy drab for these copacetic ritzy events.
Western National Roundup offers leadership workshops, dances, tours and speakers with 15 national contests, will continue to make Western National Roundup an ab-so-lute-ly valuable experience for all who attend! Participants have the opportunity to visit the National Western Stock Show, the second largest stock show in the world, which attracts people from all over North America. Everyone attending Roundup has the opportunity to:
- Establish new friendships with fellow 4-H and FFA members and leaders.
- Participate in social and educational programs by being a participant, not a spectator.
- Experience and develop greater personal growth.
- Continue to develop leadership and citizenship skills.
- Reach for new career ideas and cultural development in areas of business, agriculture, science, industry, education and the arts.
- Share personal experiences with others about things that have been meaningful to your growth and development.
