National 4-H Horse Classic, Western Division

Contestants (including team alternates) may participate in only one contest per year at the Roundup. After competing in this contest, they are ineligible to compete in the same specific contest again. Contestants must not have competed previously in this contest in the Eastern National 4-H Horse Roundup in Louisville or the Western National 4-H Horse Classic in Denver, CO. States may only send one team per contest to a national event, either the Eastern or Western, but not both.

Colorado State University, at the forefront of Judging Contest DVD development, announces the new 2009 Horse Classic DVD - It contains 3 halter and 6 performance classes from the 2009 contest, plus official placings. The link below will have an informational flyer and an order form. Also at this site is the 2007 sample reasons DVD, great for teaching and coaching!

General (Horse Classic) Information:

Representatives may enter only one (1) National 4-H Horse Classic contest. Previous representatives may not compete in the same contest area.

Transportation

Horse Judging and Hippology contestants will be transported by bus to and from the National Western Stock Show grounds. Contestants are required to ride the buses provided. All Horse Judging and Hippology coaches should make their own arrangements for transportation to and from the NWSS grounds. Parking during the NWSS can be expensive and is limited. Allow yourself plenty of time to park and get to the contest

Registration/entry forms are to be completed on-line and an official authorization form must be printed and then signed by the respective state 4-H leader and mailed with full payment to:

Important dates to remember:

October 7: On-line registration opens
November 30: Late registration begins ($50 per person)
December 10: Registration closes

The headquarters hotel for this event will be the Renaissance Denver Hotel, 3801 Quebec Street, Denver, CO 80207; (303) 399-7500. Special rates are available for all participants. Please refer to the hotel section of this website for hotel information, rates and reservation form. Reservations must be made directly with the hotel by December 10.
